Project Description

How do I inspire people to rediscover their sense of wonder for our planet, and thus feel inspired to care for it?

Challenge

Strangebeats’s target audience is creative people and students between 16-26 years old. This audience consists of people that care for the environment and want to make a positive change but may not have the means to do so. These individuals also enjoy lofi music and having it play in the background as they complete various tasks or to help them relax. Social media also takes up a larger part of my audience's lives since they use it for entertainment, to stay connected and informed on various issues around the world.

Audience

To get people to donate, they need to be recognized for doing good.

Hypothesis

Sustainability has become a buzzword and environmentalism, polarizing.

As adults, personal interests inspire wonder, and less so the natural world around us.

Reconnecting with nature could mean reconnecting with you inner child.

Wonder is hard to define.

Primary Research Insights

Contact with natural images, whether real or simulated green settings, activates the parasympathetic nervous system, lowers stress levels, and provides an opportunity for micro-restorative experiences, thereby preventing stress-related diseases, improving mood, self-esteem, and reducing feelings of stress and depression.

Engaging in activities that reduce mental chatter and worries can lead to a shrinking sense of self, while simultaneously increasing the desire to connect with and help others, ultimately resulting in higher levels of overall well-being and the stimulation of new ways of thinking.

Listening to preferred music, particularly chill-inducing music, promotes altruistic behaviour, as evidenced by dictators increasing the amount of money allocated to recipients after such music, while disliked music is associated with selfish behaviour.

Secondary Research Insights

People have lost touch with nature...they know it’s in trouble...but are too busy, stressed and overwhelmed with life.

Opportunity

Strangebeats recognizes that environmentalism can be a polarizing topic. It aims to create a digital space that renews its audiences’ sense of wonder, serves as a reminder of the beauty and tranquillity that can be found in nature, and encourages people to reconnect with it.

Strangebeats takes people on a journey of wonder, exploration and understanding, showing them the unique and diverse beauty of this planet through a new perspective. It believes that by fostering a deeper appreciation for the world around us, it can inspire individuals to take care of it and create a more sustainable future for all.

Strategy

The solution is a website and video game that aim to take people on a little journey of wonder, exploration and understanding in a way that fits their lifestyles, while showing them the unique and diverse beauty of our planet through a new and exciting perspective. Strangebeats believes that by fostering a deeper appreciation for the world around us, it can inspire individuals to take care of it and create a more sustainable future for all.
